Circle quilt top done?

I've finished assembling my circle quilt top and I'm not sure I like it. I love each individual block but I'm not crazy about them together. It's just so busy! I have seen other circle quilts with multiple pattern fabrics and loved it. Maybe Flights of Fancy is just too much for something like this. I could always sash in black and this way each block would stand out ( and ya'll know I love me some sashing!). My niece loves this quilt but she also wants me to make her a quilt with different types of camouflage fabric * so I'm not too sure I can trust her opinion. We have different tastes in just about everything. Hmmm, what do ya'll think? Leave it alone or add sashing?

Did ya'll know there's different TYPES of camouflage? Seriously. I keep telling her I don't do ugly but she's not listening.

  1. It seems like maybe the black circle print is overwhelming, perhaps moving those blocks around might help. I think the sashing is a great idea.

  2. I dont' mind it as it is...(I love scrappy happy quilts) just notcied, The outer row doesn't have any black in it......
sashing? up to you. does it need to be a bigger quilt? then go for it. You will know what to do, you always make beauties!

  4. I think if you added sashing, it would frame your beautiful blocks, at this point I really do not get the full beauty of each block, I also agree with Bumble Beans, I would put one of the blocks with black in it on the outer row. But in your heart you know what to do and I know it will be wonderful!

  5. I love the blocks themselves - what great work - I think I agree with the other and that the black sashing would really bring out each individual block - but really its beautiful as is. I too laughed at your "I don't do ugly" comment.

  6. Each block is beautiful. I think the black sashing would make each one 'pop' a little more. I really like the circle thing! Cute!

  7. I think sashing would look nice with it. It would help frame the separate blocks.

  8. I really like it! But, have you thought about a different layout? Let me see how to explain this. Make circles elsewhere. Heck, I have to find a link. http://www.backporchdesign.com/ See how there are circles within circles? Let me know if you see and understand what I'm trying to say (or even care! lol).

  9. yeah...I would have a hard time making a quilt with what I consider "ugly" fabric - camouflage being one. I don't know, can we see it with black sashing on the design wall to decide?

  10. I don't think I've opined on this yet - but I'm not going to be helpful - I think it looks fine how it is...or sashing would be good too...

and ask your niece if she's thinks she'll like camo in a couple of years - cuz you aren't gonna make her a replacement that quickly!

  12. I really like this circle pattern. Go with your gut, but I like it as is, esp. if you use a dark binding.

  13. I really am no quilt expert, but I think sashing might not be a bad idea. But your work is always beautiful, no matter what.

  14. Black sashing and rearranging the blocks would make this quilt incredible.

  15. I agree with everyone else... I think sashing it would make the blocks stand out more but if you don't do that I would move the black around a little more. Some on the right side. I love it though... so jealous that you made this. I need to get my booty in order and get working! Again you rock girl!

  16. I agree with what everyone has said! The black is a bit one sided. I amsure if you move it around a bit you will love it.
